My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 10/23/2010: KENZIE is only 2 years old and weighs a very muscular 12#; he is being fostered in Boynton Beach, FL. Kenzie has assumed the position of "Peace-Maker" in his foster home. He is Foster Mom's constant buddy; he knows when she is exhausted and won't leave her side......but is always up for a fun game of run-and-do-racing-laps-around-the-yard with foster dogs Byron and Bradley. Kenzie also loves to cuddle with Byron and Bradley at night...on FM's bed! :) FM still says that Kenzie is the best doggie EVER! Any family would truly receive a perfect dog in Kenzie - and no one could ever ask for a better friend. Why is he still here? He really wants his very own family to love him for the rest of his life, which will be a long time since he is only 2 years old. Please read Kenzie's prior bios below to learn more about this precious (and perfect!) little boy!

UPDATED BIO 09/01/2010: KENZIE is only 2 y/o and weighs a very muscular 12#; he is being fostered in Boynton Beach, FL. Kenzie continues to be interested in just about everything and just about everywhere. He enjoys playing with toys, but is careful not to chew or destroy anything; he always is very interested in understanding what is going on around him. Kenzie loves to tunnel or burrow under the bed sheets at night - oh, and he loves sleeping with his Foster Mom. He is not a licky-type kisser, but he is a BIG hugger - he loves to hug his FM by stretching his paws up on her shoulders - a doggie hug! Kenzie is very patient with the other dogs in the home, and they all love him. He would stand on his head for anyone willing to give him a car ride. He has adjusted very well to his 'new normal' for vision after losing his eye, but depth perception will always be a problem - this is why being adopted into a home with a pool would be out of the question for him. Kenzie's perfect home would be one that had a fenced-in backyard because he loves running around and around the back yard, and one where there was another dog close to his size and age to play with. No bigger doggies, please - he is fearful of bigger dogs. Kenzie keeps asking his FM - "I'm so perfect, how come I'm still not adopted?" Please read Kenzie's prior bios below to learn more about this precious (and perfect!) little boy!

UPDATED BIO 07/18/10: Hey?! Remember me? My name is KENZIE and I'm only 2 y/o and weigh 12#. I don't know why I haven't been adopted yet - could it be that I have only one eye? If you could see how I play and get along, you'd never feel sorry for me, but you'd realize what a "WonderDog" I am! My Foster Mom says that I am a very well-mannered boy, both with my family and with other dogs. I am very respectful of my doggie friends' likes and dislikes and always let them have their way. I will sit by the bed at night and wait for FM to get settled in bed before I jump in.....and I always come when she calls me. I am kinda a push-over with the other dogs, and I never get mad or upset about anything they do. I love to run in the yard since, ya know, I'm only a puppy - walking is just tooo s-l-o-w for me. I am muscular and solid, so I would really like to go to a home with a fenced-in yard. I would also like to be placed in a home with another active dog so that I would have someone to run and chase the birds with. But.....I'm not okay with dogs bigger than me, so it would have to be another dog close to my size or smaller. Foster Mom also says that I am a very slow eater, so its best if I have my own place to eat so other dogs don't push me aside and eat all my food - no! I am housetrained, but.....um.....it'd be good if my new home has a b-i-g umbrella to put over me when I go out to potty 'cause I do not like getting my feet wet - ugh! That's not asking too much, is it? I love everyone and especially love it when the Marlins' game is on the television and I hear everyone cheering, clapping and yelling - I'm still wondering what causes the sudden outbursts? I'll jump up on the sofa and get excited with my family - so you see, I love sports! So how come I haven't been adopted yet?

UPDATED BIO 05/26/2010: Hi! My name is Kenzie. I'm only 2 years old and weigh 12 lbs. I'm wondering why I haven't been adopted yet. So I only have one eye. Is it because you have two and so you feel bad for me? Well, I have a cool tail and you don't, but I don't feel bad for you. :) Seriously, I'm not a "disabled" dog. I only have one eye because I was in a bad accident (the Dogtor thinks I got attacked by a big dog). My owners dumped me at the shelter, where they did an emergency enucleation to remove my eye (it was dangling out of my head.... it hurt real bad). Now, I'm good as new! Seriously! I've adjusted to only having one eye and get around just fine. A little about me.....

So, I really love people... and dogs. I love to play and run and chase lizards. No kitties or birds in my FURever home please! I'm housetrained and very smart. I think I could even learn some neat tricks for you! I'd love a home with a backyard and I just LOVE nuzzling next to you in bed. Please let me show you how much I can love you. I'd really like my own FURever home now. Are you out there reading this? Thank you for reading about me, xoxo Kenzie. You can fill out the application now, please.... ok? please?

UPDATED BIO 04/01/10: KENZIE is 2 years old and weighs 12#; he is being fostered in Boynton Beach, FL. He has adjusted really well after losing an eye from a larger dog attack. Kenzie loves to go outside and watch the ducks flying overhead; he tries to 'chase' them - so cute. He loves to think his barking and chasing has saved the household from another dreaded duck attack. Kenzie and the other dogs in the home actually managed to corner a duck in the yard, but thankfully Foster Dad saved the duck - so Foster Mom wants to make sure he isn't placed in a home with birds of any sort, or even a kitty cat since he loves to chase moving animals. Kenzie loves to greet everyone arriving at the front door, and he wnts to be the the first one on your lap when you sit down. Kenzie loves everyone and definitely is what you would call a velcro doggie - he has chosen Foster Mom as his 'person' and follows her everywhere. He would love a forever home where he could have his own special 'person' and one in which his person definitely allowed him to sleep beside them in the bed.

Even though Kenzie loves his special 'person', he also bonds quickly to others in the home. He just wants to be the most important thing in his 'person's' life - this is probably because he may have never received much attention in his previous life and now that he's experienced so much love and attention in his foster home, he really likes it! Kenzie is very athletic and would love to have a fenced-in yard in his new home so that he can do one of his favorite things - run-run-run! He is housetrained and very well-mannered - the perfect dog!

Kenzie's needs are minimum - just a home with a whole lotta love, no birds, no cats, and no dogs larger than him, please! Could your home be Kenzie's perfecft home?

UPDATED BIO 01-07-10: KENZIE is only 2 years old and weighs 12#; he is being fostered in Boynton Beach, FL. He continues to learn how to live life with only 1 eye; his depth perception is still off, but this will improve as time goes by. He often misses his target or turns too soon around a corner or doesn't see where Foster Mom's feet are when they are walking together. In spite of all this, Kenzie is very playful and really needs to be with another playful dog close to his age and size. He and FM's dog, Rooney, run wildly - jumping all over the yard, on each other and play speed-tag - running in and out of the house, around the circles in the house, and they both fly like doggie race horses. They are really big buddies and will sit and lick each other's faces, awwwwww. Kenzie is in love with people also and has bonded well with FM & FD. Since his injuries, and the subsequent enucleation of his eye, occurred as a result of a large dog attack, it would be best if Kenzie's forever home is one with dogs his size or smaller - no large dogs. Kenzie definitely does NOT like cats - so not cats! A fenced-in yard would be a bonus since he likes to really build up speed and run-run-run -- his favorite thing to do. Kenzie is house-trained and very well-mannered; he would do anything to make FM happy, although he does hog the bed! :) He is a cuddler and he wants to be right up next to his person - it's almost impossible to keep him off the bed since he really enjoys (and loves) the closeness of his person. Foster Mom says "He is just wonderful - we love him a lot here." Who wouldn't want to adopt a doggie like that? Having only one eye certainly hasn't dimished the spirit of little Kenzie!

UPDATED BIO 12/23/09: KENZIE is only 2 years old and weighs 12#; he is being fostered in Boynton Beach, FL. Kenzie continues to come into his own in his foster home; he is so affectionate and friendly to everyone - two- legged or four-legged. Kenzie is also very athletic - in the house, he enjoys jumping from one twin bed to the other - he flies between them. He loves to wrestle with little 5# Rooney in the foster home and is very gentle with him when he plays. He loves sitting out on the patio in the evening with his foster family. Kenzie also loves the outdoors - he races with little Rooney to make sure all the ducks get out of the area on the other side of the fence. He has really figured out how to navigate with just one eye; his hair is slowly growing so that soon it will grow over his eye. He is Foster Mom's shadow, even at night when she gets up to go to the bathroom. Foster Dad loves him so much that he just carries him around and takes him all all over the place; he found that Kenzie is also great while riding in the car. Kenzie is just a wonderful little boy, who so deserves a loving home of his own. Won't you give him a chance?

ORIGINAL BIO 11/18/2009: My name is Kenzie. I am 2 years old and 12 lbs. I am being fostered in Boynton Beach, FL. Actually, I'm pretty sure my name was something else before today, but my owners who dropped me off at the shelter didn't bother to tell them what it was. I like Kenzie though. When FM calls me by my new name, I can tell she really loves me.

Well, I'm not quite sure what happened. I got hurt real bad. My family couldn't afford to take me to the vet, so they dumped me at the shelter. My right eye was coming out of its socket. It was starting to get infected, and it needed to come out as soon as possible. Thankfully, UYR was there for me and was able to help get me the care I needed. I was neutered and had my eye removed today. Whew. What a day!

Right now I know I don't look very handsome, but I promise you the my hair is going to grow over the spot where my eye used to be and you won't be able to tell the difference. I can see perfectly well out of the other eye. In all honesty, us dogs rely waaaay less on things like vision than we do on our hearing and sense of smell. That's just FYI since I can see FINE out of my other eye. I'll take a few days to get used to only having one eye. After that, I accomodate and can judge distances and other things just fine. You wait!

Well, I sure hope that this MINOR detail about me doesn't keep you from wanting to adopt me. I'm awfully cute, appear to be housetrained, and get along with the other doggies here at FM's house. Since I'm here with Harry with 3 legs and Peanut who will likely lose a bunch of his toofers tomorrow, FM calls us a Motley Crew. I think she's silly! Adopt me please!
