Oscar's Story...
Oscar and his brother Felix are two unbelievably adorable 11 week-old orange tabby kittens. They've completely won over every temporary foster they've stayed with, being utterly charming and sweet. Both of them are very, very affectionate, wanting nothing more than to sit in people's laps no matter what they're doing. Often they'll try to both get into the same person's lap, and luckily they're still small enough that they can both fit! We're hoping that these two can be adopted as a pair, because they are very affectionate with each other and sleep and play together. Both of them are used to other cats... as long as the other cats don't mind playing! Click here to download an adoption application. Send it to meow@tailshigh.org and Kelley the adoption counselor will contact you promptly.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Oscar, a Alexandria American Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Shorthair for sale in Alexandria, or seeking a American Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Alexandria.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Alexandria already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Alexandria breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Shorthair breeders who help with American Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Alexandria paves the way for another one to be saved.
