MANDU's Story...
MANDU (ID# A014725) is a spayed female, calico Domestic Shorthair. The shelter staff think that Mandu is about 4 years old. MANDU feels that the world is only big enough for her and her adoring human companions/entourage.  She can occasionally be a lap cat and enjoys attention/admiration on her terms at her convenience.  She would be fine with other cats, but probably wouldn’t be best pals with them. She is relaxed walking around groups of people socializing with food, hoping to scrounge some treats.  She is active/playful when enticed by creative toys such as catnip bubbles, which she swats when they come within range.  She can be nippy/temperamental when annoyed by a world not living up to her expectations.  She needs an experienced cat person who understands how to work with a cat who has been in a cage for too long.

Don't shop, ADOPT! The Pet Project Foundation in partnership with the San Clemente-Dana Point Animal Shelter presents HOMEWARD BOUND FOR THE HOLIDAYS! From Nov. 15 to Dec. 15 Dog and Cat adoption fees are only $50, and Rabbits are only $25. The fee includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip and a lifetime of love. Happy Holidays to All!

STARTING THE ADOPTION PROCESS:
You need to be 18 years or older, complete an application http://www.petprojectfoundation.org/catadoption.pdf, and be interviewed. It is strongly recommended that all members of your household interact with the cat to make the best match for everyone, and that the cat you wish to adopt will be an indoor cat. You must be able to verify with your landlord that you may have a pet if you are renting. We reserve the right to deny the adoption of any pet for any reason. Also any additional requirements for the specific pet you are interested in adopting needs to be met. We adopt to the best home, not necessarily the first application turned in.

Applications are only accepted by FAX (949-366-4765), mail or in person. Sorry, no applications through the Internet. The adoption fee for cats is $100, which covers the following: spay or neuter, microchip, current shots, flea treatment if required, "New Owner" folder packed with helpful information, and one free basic health examination within 5 days of adoption from a veterinarian on our list.

Please call 949-595-8899 to check if your desired pet is still available or for the status of your application. Shelter Hours: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM. Sunday: Noon - 3:00 PM. We are CLOSED Mondays. We are very proud of our shelter, it is clean, welcoming, freeway close, and was voted "Best Place to Adopt" by the Orange Coast Magazine!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

MANDU, a San Clemente Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in San Clemente, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in San Clemente.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Clemente already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Clemente breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Clemente paves the way for another one to be saved.
