Rocky 3's Story...
We received a call from a local shelter about a Shar Pei who was reported as being male aggressive. So, we sent a male volunteer as "bait" to evaluate this dog and see if he was a candidate for rescue. When the volunteer arrived, the only thing that could be considered aggressive was the whip action of his wagging tail. Rocky 3 is a love. He is a cream dilute, about 1 year old, and as playful as a puppy. He has completed treatment for heartworms and is currently being treated for a bit of a stress-induced skin condition. He gets along with everyone he comes in contact with and is also dog friendly. He weighs in at about 30-35 lbs and is gaining weight everyday. Rocky's perfect forever home should have a yard and a doggy door. He loves his freedom and he loves to lay in the yard and while away the day. He would also like a friend or 2 to keep him company. He is very well mannered but still has a lot of puppy in him. His name should be Cream Puff, soft and mushy on the outside, and full of filling on the inside.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rocky 3, a Houston Shar Pei dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shar Pei for sale in Houston, or seeking a Shar Pei dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shar Pei breeders who help with Shar Pei rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
