Riley's Story...
Riley is a sable 2 year old 20 pound Sheltie/Doxie mix with possibly a touch a Chihuahua. He is friendly and very loving to family members but can be a little shy around strangers. Riley loves to sleep in bed with you and cuddle while watching TV. Riley is a fast learner and is eager to please. He is learning to sit, stay, lay down, stand up, wait, etc. Riley loves to take walks and ride in the car. He does best with another dog, either male or female, his size or a little bigger. Riley loves to run around and play. He plays very enthusiastically, so a smaller, more delicate dog may not be best. A stay at home parent would be best as he sometimes gets a little anxious when he is left alone. Riley is currently working with a dog trainer to improve his social skills and learn his basic obedience.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Riley, a La Habra Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog/Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog/Dachshund for sale in La Habra, or seeking a Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog/Dachshund dog from a breeder in La Habra.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in La Habra already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a La Habra breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog/Dachshund breeders who help with Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog/Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in La Habra paves the way for another one to be saved.
