Mama Lucy's Story...
Mama Lucy is a 2-3 year old female. She is a small, beautiful, baby girl. This poor thing has seen it all and doesn't even attempt to do anything but get more cuddles.

We aren't sure about her story, but her alleged history is that she showed up very skinny at a rural household who tied her up and fed her. That household was then moving into town and couldn't take her with them. In this same amount of time she managed to become pregnant and deliver a very large litter of puppies.

Still excruciatingly thin, this mama is now free of her kids and looking to have a happy ending to her sad story. However, once again, her bad luck only gets worse. Too often we have recited these words: this dog is heartworm positive. She weighs only 51 lbs, but the veterinarian ruled that she does have enough muscle to safely treat her for the heartworms.

We will be going ahead with the treatment, but Mama Lucy needs lots of loving sponsors and one loving forever home.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mama Lucy, a Urbana German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Urbana, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Urbana.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Urbana already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Urbana breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Urbana paves the way for another one to be saved.
