Jenny's Story...
Jenny is a gentle, youthful and playful Chow/Retriever mix who came into the city shelter as a "stray." Jenny is 2-years-old, healthy and 44 Lbs. She is easy to walk on a leash and seems housebroken. She did well on her behavioral test at the shelter and seems OK around other dogs. We urgently need to find either a foster or adoptive home for Jenny as soon as possible as we have no place to immediately put this lovely dog. However, she cannot stay in a euthanizing shelter. Can you help us save Jenny? If so, please call us immediately (NOT email) at (212) 427-8273. With so many animals arriving daily at the city pound just prior to a major holiday, time is of the essence!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jenny, a New York Chow Chow/Flat-Coated Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chow Chow/Flat-Coated Retriever for sale in New York, or seeking a Chow Chow/Flat-Coated Retriever dog from a breeder in New York.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in New York already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a New York breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chow Chow/Flat-Coated Retriever breeders who help with Chow Chow/Flat-Coated Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in New York paves the way for another one to be saved.
