Portia's Story...
Hi! I'm Portia,

Don't be fooled, I'm not just another black cat, I'm actually a bombay & black tabby! (That means you can see shading in my shiny coat that makes it look like I'm always in motion) Of course I am, there are 5 of us and we all are.

We're known in the shelter as the "Gospel Group" because the very second anyone comes in the door we run to the door and start singing in 5-part harmony. We're quite talented.

We wear color-coded collars so you can tell us apart, but actually we're all very different personalities.

Portia is one of the most prominent of Shakespeare's heroines. She is beautiful, gracious, intelligent, and quick witted. Our little Portia lives up to her namesake in every respect. She is an amazing little girl.

If you're looking for a best friend who will always keep you entertained, and then curl up with you for a nice snuggle, Portia may just be the girl you've been searching for!

At Altered Feral State, we work with feral cat colonies. All of our kittens were removed from the colonies and completely socialized when they are less than 8 weeks old. We don't offer them for adoption until they have been tested, vaccinated and spayed or neutered.

Our adoption fee of $50 only covers a very small portion of our costs, but to us, it's all about finding the best home for these wonderful kitties.

If you are interested in providing a home for Portia, please go to our website, download our adoption application and email it to us at afsga@att.net.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Portia, a Monroe Bombay cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Bombay for sale in Monroe, or seeking a Bombay cat from a breeder in Monroe.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Monroe already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Monroe breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Bombay breeders who help with Bombay rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Monroe paves the way for another one to be saved.
