Mickey's Story...
Dachshund Mix pups surrendered to This is the Dog! on 07/26/09 Mickey was born to a mother Dachshund and an unknown father dog. He was recently surrendered to This is the Dog! because the family is too busy to care for him. He is sweet as can be. (Jan 2010) Email pets@thisisthedog.com for application. We get all pets in our care a veterinary exam before adoption. Our adoption donation includes up to date vaccines, spay/neuter, deworming Microchip, heartworm test and grooming services as needed. Cats are tested for Feline Leukemia/Aids, and dogs are tested for Heartworm if old enough.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mickey, a Homestead Dachshund/Chihuahua puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Chihuahua for sale in Homestead, or seeking a Dachshund/Chihuahua puppy from a breeder in Homestead.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Homestead already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Homestead breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Chihuahua breeders who help with Dachshund/Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Homestead paves the way for another one to be saved.
