My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

THERE IT WAS! He felt it again! His little pea sized heart was growing again, and filling with love. This wasn't supposed to happen to a troll. He was supposed to be mean and filled with hate and loathing. He was a troll born and bred, ugly to the core, but something inside him was very wrong. It all started when his mother brought home that blasted puppy for the stew pot. Ever since he had looked into those eyes, that was the start. How could any self-respecting troll fall in love with his food. Next thing you know, he would find himself acting kindly toward the horrible puppy. It was a relief to know that his mother would cook the loathsome thing in just a few days, then it would be over.

That night he found himself wide awake, with those soft brown eyes haunting him. The creature was hungry and lonely and making soft whinning noises, the troll pulled his pillow over his head and tried to sleep. The next day he left the house after giving the puppy his breakfast. Horror of horrors, it wagged its tail and tried to lick his hand. He felt his heart grow again, this had to be stopped! That night was sleepless again, things couldn't be worse, he knew he was becoming human. If the others found out, he would be in the stew pot himself. He had to take action, and soon. He couldn't help himself, he gave the puppy all his dinner, again his heart grew, and he found himself petting the puppy and filling with love.

When the witch and ogre and all the other little trolls were asleep, he sneaked out of the house with the puppy tucked into a straw filled box, he knew what had to be done. It was cold in the bushes, but he waited patiently, he knew the puppy was even colder and it worried him. The facility was closed, but he knew someone would come soon. He had placed the box at the bottom of the big gates, he waited and watched. The tiny head peaked out from time to time, but the puppy stayed in the box. Finally Foster Mother arrived, she looked into the box. Then she swept the puppy into her arms and away they went. That was the end of the troll, he was not longer a troll and he left to join the human world. He was happy and it felt good.

Foster Mother's note: That's how our darling, good puppy Tina, came to be in rescue. If you're prepared to get more than you give, and teach her all the "puppy stuff", she will reward you for the rest of your life! Please come meet her, but be prepared to fall in love. Oh, you want to know about the troll? Well, he is a handsome young man, goes to collage and volunteers at the local pound and with various rescue organizations. I'm told he has a very bright future, and a VERY BIG HEART. You never know when you might meet him!
