Handsome Mr. Jenkins is a young (1-2 year) Pitbull (65 lbs) who was dumped on a farm as a very thin, frightened dog. He wore an old ragged collar and a choke chain that almost had to be cut off (obviously, he had grown into these old collars). The couple who took him in did not want a dog and determined to take him to their very remote county "pound" where he would have been KILLED or worse: adopted, then possibly chained up, bred, and/or used in fighting. He is in great shape now. He loves the company of many of the other dogs in his foster home and has been a really good boy in his foster life. Jenkins listens and can be easily corrected w/a firm "no" and routinely comes when called. He has even indicated he would do ok w/kitties. Lots really GOOD to say about this very nice dog! Mr. Jenkins has been neutered, vaccinated, is heartworm-free and is microchipped.
Mr. Jenkins is a courtesy listing. For more information about Jenkins, contact email@example.com

Rescue Group Info...
DOGS DESERVE BETTER is a nonprofit organization
dedicated to freeing the chained dog, and bringing
our 'best friend' into the home and family.
Dogs Deserve Better, 2003 First Place Winner of the ASPCA/Chase Pet Protector Award, is a voice for chained and penned dogs, whose sadness speaks only through the eyes. As the days become years, many of these dogs sit, lay, eat, and defecate within the same 10-foot radius. Chained by the neck, they exist without respect, love, exercise, social interaction, and sometimes even basic nourishment. They live as prisoners, yet long to be pets. For more information about chained dogs, and to find out how you can help, please go to the website www.dogsdeservebetter.org.

If you would like to meet any of our available dogs, please contact us so we can set up a meeting. Most of us are in foster homes preparing for the right match. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
Before the meeting we ask you to fill out an adoption application; once approved you will be able to come and meet one of our dogs. If all goes well, we will then set up a homecheck and upon approval, you may then take the dog home. We ask for an adoption fee.
