Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Just take a look at Wyatt - I know what you’re thinking – HOW CUTE!!! Well he is, he’s apparently 2 years old, but looks and acts much younger, he’s all floppy ears and big feet. He’s also about 10 pounds underweight, but is now eating all his meals and should soon gain that weight.
Right now Wyatt only weighs 43 pounds, but he has some growing to do and my guess is that he’s going to be a big boy. He loves to snuggle and be petted, he enjoys long walks and he’s good in the car.
BUT, unfortunately, Wyatt has not had the benefit of any training in his previous home, and he should only be adopted by someone who has had a lot of experience with firm but gentle training, preferably someone who understands the basset mind! Wyatt is not house-trained. He knows how to use the doggie door but does not understand yet on which side of the door to go potty.
Wyatt also has a complete disregard for the feelings of his foster brothers – if he wants a toy they have he will go and try to take it from them, if he wants to get on the dog bed and there’s someone already there he will push them off! He can be quite the bully, and some of my fosters will defer to him, while the resident dogs will bite him! On the plus side he has already learned to “Sit” and does not have any food aggression. Wyatt would benefit greatly from a basic obedience class, but is well on his way already to becoming an awesome hound.
