My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Walter came into the rescue when his family lost their home. He is about 2 years old and is a nice mix of puppy playful and adult maturity. He has been neutered and also had 3 benign growths removed at the same time. He has three areas of stitches that will come out in two weeks. He is very sweet, house trained, doggy door trained, great with children and good with other dogs. Having said that, he doesn’t need to be with other dogs. He is mostly interested in attention from his foster family people. He loves to cuddle, will climb in your lap at any opportunity and loves to curl up on the couch. He barks a bit when we leave the house but after one week in foster care, hasn’t demonstrated any destructive behavior.

Walter is very thin at 43 pounds and initially was very hard to convince to eat. I have since learned that he will eat any meat and fresh pet dog food and a few select types of canned food. We have progressed slowly to him eating dry dog food mixed in with the fresh pet so we are making progress. He definitely needs to gain weight. The only time he has “counter cruised” is when meat is on the counter. He did steal his foster dad’s bacon cheeseburger for lunch the other day when he came home at lunch to check on him. Now that we are on to him, he is no longer successful but has attempted to also steal ribs off the counter! Nothing else on the counter or tables has interested him yet.

Walter really will be a wonderful addition to the family. He is very loving. He loves to go for walks and walks very well on the leash.
