My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Imagine opening your door one morning to find a cat carrier on your doorstep. Then you look inside and see . . . Duncan! We don't know who or what brought him to that particular house, but they had no room for more cats. So, after being bounced around to a few other places where he wasn't totally welcome, a Good Samaritan stepped in and asked us to help find Duncan the perfect, permanent home. The first place we took him was to the vet, who determined that Duncan was born in March or 2009.

We always take time to get to know our rescued cats, to see what “features” and “bugs” are included in their personalities, and to let them settle in and get comfortable in our foster homes. With Duncan, that took about five minutes. He is as sweet as he is gorgeous. Other than the vacuum cleaner, nothing seems to bother him. He loves everything and everybody, including the foster cat he shares quarters with. Duncan is easygoing, playful, affectionate, and very low-maintenance. We don't know how he gets along with dogs or young children, but we suspect with the proper introduction, he would do fine.

Although Duncan obviously has some Siamese or other exotic genes in his background (look at those blue eyes!), you'd never know it by his personality. He's not vocal, and he's not very agile or acrobatic; in fact, he's a bit of a klutz. Ok, he's a total klutz. Also, he doesn't have that Siamese trait of trying to get into and onto everything in the house. He's pretty happy just to play with his toys on the floor, then have a nice cuddle on the couch. He does love to climb up the cat tree and sit in the window, happily observing the big world outside. Duncan loves being combed and brushed, he's quite agreeable about having his nails trimmed, and he has perfect litter box habits. He has a good appetite, in fact he tends to like his chow a little too much, so he needs a family who will monitor his intake and make sure he gets some active play every day.

Duncan, like all ARCF cats for adoption, has been neutered, microchipped, is up to date on vaccines, and has tested negative for FeLV and FIV.

If you are interested in meeting Duncan, please fill out the "I'm interested" form at our website, and our adoption coordinator will respond promptly. Please note that we place cats in the following counties only: Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas and Clark.

Animal Rescue & Care Fund, Inc. is a small rescue organization. We rescue homeless animals only, and do not accept owner-surrendered pets. All our animals live with volunteers in their homes until they are matched with the right permanent family. Thank you for considering one of our pets for adoption.
