My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE--You can now meet Saber in person at the Muncie PetSmart!! Saber is a wonderful boy!! His approximate date of birth is January 2008. He was found with a very badly injured right hind leg. At first, we thought it was broken but after x-rays, it was determined that it was not broken at all but that he had a very bad bone infection. We feared that we may have to amputate the leg if we could not get the infection cleared and make it so he could bear weight on the leg. After 6 weeks of antibiotics, he started making very quick progress. But then, there was another set back. The first several weeks of antibiotics did not take care of all of the infection, so, poor Saber had to take more antibotics for several weeks. At his last exam and x-ray, no infection was found and he is doing great!! Before, he almost never actually put weight on the leg, mostly he held it up and limped. But now, he is using the leg, bearing nearly full weight, most of the time. We, now, believe that his leg is safe and that it will not have to be amputated. He may always have a slight limp but, at this point, it is barely noticeable. A few months into his foster care, it also became apparent that he had another injury, a diaphragmatic hernia (a hole in his diaphragm that allowed some of his organs to move into his chest cavity, instead of staying in his abdominal cavity as they should). This injury must have happened when his leg was injured, although he was able to mask the symptoms for months. He had surgery to repair the hernia and is now doing great. He is very sweet and lovey! Loves to cuddle!! As you can see in the second picture, he is a goof ball and likes to be silly! He is playful with toys and the other cats alike! He gets along with other cat friendly cats and would adjust well to a gentle dog. He does well with kids and would be a great addition to just about any household. Can you make room for this "Saber" toothed tiger in your heart and home?
