Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Billy: 1 yr old black & tan male, neutered, docked tail and uncropped ears. 16", 14 lb. Rescued from shelter.
Billy is a one year old Min Pin bundle of joy & energy. Billy was turned into a shelter due to him being too energetic. He is neutered and healthy.
Billy loves other small dogs (especially other young Min Pins) and cuddling & burrowing underneath the blankets. He is very affectionate . He shares food , toys and treats nicely with other dogs. He is high energy and would do best in a home where he can be walked several times a day at a fast pace or have a fenced in yard to run. He is still learning to walk on a leash - for this he requires a 4 - 6 foot leash (a retractable is not advised as he needs to receive direction). He does best on a well fitted collar as a harness causes him to pull at his walker.
We are working at potty training. He has some trouble "holding it" so he would do best in a home that has a stay at home / work from home owner that can take him out 8-10 times per day .Pad training is not advised. With direction he should be able to be quickly potty trained . He currently attends doggie daycare is uses the grass potty with no problems. If left in a crate for more then 2 hours he does have accidents. Billy is not interested in toys , likes having the ball thrown and and romping with his Min Pin foster brothers.
Billy does have food sensitivity, he was malnourished at a young age so he requires a high quality food. He currently eats a Salmon Blend Holistic food. He does break out in hives when given general grade treats - also has dust , cleaning product and cat allergies.
Billy is very friendly with people once he gets to know them, he can be nippy if he is abruptly picked up . He does bark at stranger however if Billy were to attend a series of training classes with his new owner this would assist with his confidence.
Billy is skittish around small children. Billy would be the perfect doggie for a dog saavy , energetic owner who would be willing to take the time to provide him with guidance and training.
His foster Mom will provide a local adopter (Buffalo area) with free beginner & basic training classes along with a year of free doggie daycare at her daycare facility located in Amherst NY.
Note: Billy is located in Amherst , NY - and we will not fly this boy.
