My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE April 17, 2010: Raina is so sweet. We know there is a special person or family out there that is willing to open their heart and home to this wonderful girl. She is special in so many ways. She does wonderfully with our cats (not too many huskies can make that claim!) and adores the small dogs. She plays great with the big boys too. She loves to be inside on a comfy bed and she likes to play and take walks too - she's wonderful on leash!

Raina's original story:
We were called a couple of months ago by a woman who had taken in an emaciated dog that had wandered up to her home. We had no room at the time but went out to evaluate the dog to see if she would be suitable for our rescue. What we found when we got to this woman’s home was a beautiful and very skinny female husky. She was very friendly and we knew she was certainly an adoptable dog so we agreed to bring her to Cedar Farm and find her a wonderful family to love. First thing we did was shave her down as her coat was horribly matted. Turns out she is a “wooly husky” with a sheep-like coat. After a grooming and bath she sure felt better and was full of hugs and kisses for us. We waited for her to put on some weight then had her spayed and brought up-to-date on her shots. Thankfully, she tested heartworm negative and she is on monthly preventative for heartworms as well as for fleas and ticks. The vet thought she was a bit older than what we had guessed - about 5 yrs. old. She did have a complete dental done while she was under anesthesia so her teeth are now nice and clean. Unfortunately, the vet also determined that she has mild hip dysplasia which is why we are posting her as a “special needs” dog. The condition doesn’t hinder her desire to run and play – she certainly is showing no pain as she romps around the yard or plays with the other dogs. She’s a champ on leash and can walk and hike through the woods as long as you want to go. She does occasionally drag her rear legs ever so slightly and will need to remain on glucosamine and chondroitin which is available at your local drugstore.
Raina will make an absolutely fantastic companion and has a ton of love to give her new mom, dad or family. Please contact us at (336) 251-8877 with any questions or send an email to cedarfarm@yadtel.net to request an adoption application.
