My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update - 3/14: Thor has gained a substantial amount of weight, and is doing very well physically. He is still, and probably always will be, very nervous and anxious around other dogs. He's quite active when meeting new people, and is pretty vocal.

Thor needs a home where he will be either the only dog, or maybe live with one female dog. He does not need alot of upheaval and change. Routine is very important for him. He has been in rescue for quite some time because we haven't been able to find exactly the right home and environment for him. If you think he might fit into your home, please fill out an application by clicking the link below!

Update - 1/31: Thor has successfully completed his heartworm treatment, has been microchipped, and will be neutered next week. He is still much thinner than we'd like for him to be, but is slowly gaining weight. He has a lot of nervous energy when he's around several dogs, and we feel this is hindering his weight gain. Unfortunately, we do not have an open foster home with only 1 or 2 other dogs, so we are making due. Once Thor is in his new home and settled, he will easily reach 85-90 pounds.

Hi, I'm Thor! Another boy displaced by Katrina. Right now I'm really emaciated and in not so great shape, but they tell me all that will change soon.

I am approximately 3 years old, and I just love everyone and everything! I don't even mind CATS! I am utd on my vaccinations, as well as flea/tick prevention, and am microchipped.

Unfortunately, when I went to the vet I tested positive for heartworm disease. I'm way too thin to begin treatment with the harsh chemicals it takes to kill them, so for the time being I'm just eating like a king and resting up from my awful experience on the streets. They say I'll start my treatment in a few weeks, and after that I'll be neutered and ready for my new home. Could it be with you?

Please Click Here to fill out an application. This is the first step in our adoption process. No adoption will be considered or discussed until this has been completed and received.

Thor must go to an indoor home where he will be an important part of the family. We do not adopt to anyone under the age of 21. Our adoption fee is $250.

Note: Mid-South Shepherd Rescue is a no-kill, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We do not have a shelter location. Our dogs are kept in foster homes as part of a family, to help prepare them for transition into their forever homes. If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, please contact us by clicking on the email address to your right. We will be glad to make arrangements for a meeting.
