My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi Everyone!

My name is Ava and I am a 1-2 year old Long Haired Chihuahua x who weighs about 5-8 lbs!

There have been some big changes in my life, so I thought I should give you an update. My first foster mom had to go out of town, so I moved into a new place. Because some people weren't very nice to me in the past (I was abandoned on the streets of Calgary and likely abused prior to that), I'm quite shy about new people. My new foster mom and her dog came and met me at the park for a visit first, and when I moved in, I was totally at home and loving right from the start. So, if you are worried about how I might adjust to my forever home, don't be! Just allow a little extra time when you first meet me so I can meet you slowly and re-assure myself that you are good people.

Also, in the big news department, I had surgery to fix my hip! The vet said it was in really bad shape, but she got it fixed up nicely. I go back in early July to get my stitches out and have a check-up to make sure everything's healing properly, but my foster mom thinks I'm making good progress. I'll be taking pain medicine for a few more weeks, but it's a liquid and I like the taste, so it's easy to give. I also need to take lots of short little walks and do some stretches, to get everything working properly again.

I have three wishes for my forever home. I need many, many daily belly rubs! My head is so soft, but good luck trying to pet it because every time you do, I will roll over for a belly rub instead. In exchange, I will offer many kisses! I need a spot to lie outside in the sun - the back deck is my favourite hangout spot here. And walks - I love 'em! Even with my sore hip, I get so excited when I see the leash come out.

So if you can offer a calm, quiet, loving home to a sweet little girl who has had a rough start in life, please get in touch. I can't wait to meet you!!
