Tequilla: Bare Eye Cockatoo

Tequila is such a sweet bird! She can say “Whatcha doin” and meows like a cat! She does love to talk and make noises but she is not a screamer. She desperately needs someone with lots of patience to gain her trust, but once she trusts you, she is so very loving and affectionate! She loves to be scritched behind her neck and under her wings but she is not sure what to do when asked to step up, she tries to put her head down for a scritch or shakes her head back and forth in a “no” motion, so we have to work on that, but she does not bite or show any aggression at all when you try, so I know she can be worked with on this point. She loves fresh fruits and vegetables, especially steamed broccoli and baked sweet potato and she gets so excited when you give her a boiled egg! She doesn’t seem to mind the dogs or cats too much, but she will let out a little warning call if the dog gets too close to her cage. She does seem interested in other birds but doesn’t make much of a move to leave the play area on the top of her
cage to visit with any of them, so we are trying to work on socializing her during dinner time with the rest of the flock. Tequilla does not like things to change much, so you will need to be careful when introducing new toys or perches
to her. She is currently in a cage she is very comfortable in and it would make things easier on her if she is adopted with her cage. Tequila will make a wonderful life long companion in any type of home situation with the right person or family who has lots of patience and plenty of love to give!
