Abby's Story...
Abby is a precious 58-pound, 2-year-old black Lab mix who seeks a new loving home. Abby was rescued from a shelter in southern IL and quickly became one of our favorite rescue dogs because she has the absolute best personality. She is so calm, quiet, gentle, loyal, sweet and loving. She's a by-your-side kind of gal but not in a needy way but rather a loyal, devoted Lab-like way. She loves and get along great with other dogs but her first love is her people. She'd be very happy as an only dog with people around more than not to love on her. She adores being and playing outside and is easy to walk on leash. She'd be great in a home with the youngest to oldest of people as she is so very gentle.

Abby is spayed, heartworm tested negative, microchipped, vaccinated for rabies, distemper, parvo, and bordetella, dewormed and ready for adoption! Abby's adoption fee of $350 payable by cash or check covers her vetting and helps support our rescue dogs.To meet and potentially adopt Abby, please email houndhaven@sbcglobal.net and/or call 224 678 5740 to complete an application.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Abby, a Jacksonville Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Jacksonville, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Jacksonville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Jacksonville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Jacksonville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Jacksonville paves the way for another one to be saved.
