Dexter is friendly and affectionate with people he knows and trusts and really loves to play! But he is very fearful of strangers, particularly men, probably due to the lack of socialization as a young puppy. When he is nervous or feels threatened he gets defensive so we will be working with him in foster care to help him gain more confidence and overcome his fears. He is possessive with toys so he'll need supervision around other dogs, but he'd be perfectly happy to be an only dog.
Dexter will need an experienced adopter who's willing to continue to socialize him and provide a stable environment in a home without young children. He's a very energetic dog that will require lots of physical exercise and mental stimulation to give him positive outlets for all his energy. Being home alone in a crate all day would NOT be a suitable environment for Dexter!
Dexter is a very sweet boy that would make the right person a very lovable companion.
