I am already neutered, housetrained, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.
Diesel is the result of a "backyard breeders" attempt to create yet another "designer dog".
His previous owners just couldn't resist how cute he was and purchased on a "whim" when he was only 5 weeks old. Five months later, they were in a Pet Store trying to give him away for FREE. They told me he "wasn't working out" and they realized they had made a mistake. I persuaded them to surrender this little boy to my rescue where he would be safe and adopted out properly. It's apparent that Diesel had little to no socialization with other people, he was not given the proper corrections for unacceptable behavior and was allowed to growl and snap at their toddlers until he finally bit one of them.
However, Diesel has made a complete turn around in his disposition and personality. He has evolved into a "good puppy" and can meet and greet anyone he encounters.
He LOVES other dogs and seems to have little or no interest in cats.
He has become the "social butterfly" at Mingle with Our Mutts and will allow anyone to pet him without showing signs of fear aggression.
Diesel has a lot of potential for becoming a GREAT companion and family pet. He will need some obedience training ... mostly for the new owner to maintain the proper "alpha" status. Both Shar Pei and Basset breeds can become dominate within their pack.
Although Diesel is becoming trustworthy with children, it is not recommended that he be placed with kids under the age of 7.
