My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Elroy is Adopted

Elroy is currently fostered in Mentor Ohio, and his adoption donation is minimal to an approved home.

Elroy is a black and white male cocker spaniel estimated to be about 8-9 yrs old.
He has been in rescue for 3 yrs now (was 5-6 when he came to us), and has become somewhat of a permanent foster due to his age.

He is a very sweet boy that craves human attention; however he is a “big chicken”, as his foster mom calls him, when it comes to being groomed or having his nails clipped, ears cleaned, or being picked up.
Elroy will run away from you if you try to do any of these things to him. If backed into a corner, he does feel threatened and will try to bite.
He is not an aggressive dog in any way, just fearful about having things done to him.
He does allow his foster mom to clean his ears now, but anyone new, may have to earn his trust. He has had ear issues in the past, and still struggles with re-occurring infections due to his very long, heavy/droopy ears.

When being picked up for grooming/bathing, he is muzzled, and is fine once the ears and nails are done, then the muzzle can come off, as he actually enjoys the grooming/brushing.
He loves attention, and will cuddle with his foster mom, or anyone that will give him attention.
Elroy is so loyal and loving, he will put his head right up into your chest to show affection, and he enjoys being brushed very much.

He would do best in a home where someone is home all the time, a retired person that needs companionship.
He does get along very well with other dogs, as long as they are not young/puppyish, and are not jumping all over him, he is very laid back, and not tolerant of youngsters in his face.

He is housetrained, and will do his business outside, but needs to be let out a few times throughout the day, and would not be good left for long hours.
If you are someone looking for an older senior boy, that will be a companion dog, then Elroy is the one for you.

Elroy is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and is heartworm negative.

If you would like to adopt Elroy or would like more information on him, please fill out an adoption application.
