My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bobby is a drop-dead gorgeous, gentle, Sable-headed White Collie boy. We think Bobby is about 8-10 years old, but he has a good amount of energy and can be quite playful for his age. He LOVES being a house dog and actually does not enjoy being outside much. He wants to spend all his time with his foster parents and rest quietly by them. He gets along with all the other dogs and loves cats. Although initially shy with strangers, with the people he knows, he is calm, enjoys being petted, kissed, and especially massaged. He loves to play fetch with a ball and will even drop it at your feet. He is housetrained (no guarantees with carpeting though) and he walks very well on a leash. He has a beautiful coat and he doesn't mind being groomed.

One of Bobby's favorite past-times is standing in front of the big picture window in his foster home and barking at people, cars, and bicycles going by. If the blinds are closed he's fine. He reacts to visual stimuli but not to sounds much. Therefore, a crowded, noisy urban or even suburban home with a lot of visual action and close proximity to neighbors would not be the best environment for him. He has a penchant for chewing small plastic things and needs to be supervised around them. (Like a TV remote, for instance.). He does have some arthritis in his spine and some lymphoma family history in his possible siblings, but otherwise seems healthy for his age. He's missing some teeth which doesn't seem to affect his hearty appetite. He would enjoy another non-aggressive (female only) dog companion but he could also be an only dog if he could be with a human who is home most of the time to keep him company. He has some aggression issues with certain other male dogs which along with his other issues will make his placement very selective. Also, we would like him adopted in close proximity to the San Francisco Bay Area. He soaks up all the love and attention he can get and is so appreciative of any kindness. Can you give this sweet, older gentleman a loving retirement home? He deserves it! Updated - 03.13.06
