Rusty's Story...
Meet Rusty – a 3 year old beagle/bassett mix. I have been neutered, de-wormed, am heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines. I was taken to the pound, along with my buddy Molly, by my former owner; his loss! When I went into foster care, I weighed 40 lbs. but I have been exercising and slimming down. I have lots of energy but can also be laid back. I am housebroken and crate trained. I love hanging out with people – big & small - and riding in cars. I also like hanging out with my doggie buddies and get along well with cats. If you want a little buddy to hang out with, contact Cathy of Floyd County Humane Society at 540-763-3299, 540-745-7207, or floydhumane@gmail.com.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rusty, a Floyd Beagle/Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle/Basset Hound for sale in Floyd, or seeking a Beagle/Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Floyd.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Floyd already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Floyd breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle/Basset Hound breeders who help with Beagle/Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Floyd paves the way for another one to be saved.
