MoHawk's Story...
Mohawk (also known as Mo) is a male, 3 year old Border Collie cross who came to the NHS through an animal cruelty investigation due to his body condition and severe hair loss. He is a VERY energetic boy who loves to play ball outside in the front fenced in area. Because of his high energy level and his breed, Mo will need new adoptive parent(s) who are also energetic like him. When inside in the cat room, he seems to be okay with cats, if not a bit shy, however the staff feel that he may chase a cat if he sees one outside. Mo seems curious of other dogs, but has only met one through the fence (Mitsy). Mohawk has been at the NHS since April 2010.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

MoHawk, a Port Hope Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Collie for sale in Port Hope, or seeking a Collie dog from a breeder in Port Hope.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Port Hope already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Port Hope breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Collie breeders who help with Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Port Hope paves the way for another one to be saved.
