Bear's Story...
Meet Bear, a big ole' sweetheart seized as part of a cruelty case in CT. Bear is approx 6-7 yrs old, very big with one silly flopped over ear that makes him look like a puppy forever!! At one time Bear was a housedog, but later had been turned into a kennel dog, much to his unhappiness. Bear is a lover, but is BIG so acts like a bull-in-a-china-shop! He rode well in my crate from CT to NJ, walks well on a leash and knows basic commands. Bear has the sweetest face and just wants to be someone's love bug!! Bear would do well with a nice female dog, but definitely no cats.  He needs some vetting so check back with us to learn more. If you are interested in Bear, please fill out our online adoption application. Adoption contract required.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bear, a East Amherst Akita dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Akita for sale in East Amherst, or seeking a Akita dog from a breeder in East Amherst.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in East Amherst already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a East Amherst breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Akita breeders who help with Akita rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in East Amherst paves the way for another one to be saved.
