My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

JameyFOR SERIOUS CUDDLERS ONLY! If you have an empty lap that needs a snuggly pup, then Jamey is for you. Jamey is, indeed, Sweet Baby James! He is young -- barely one year old -- playful, and gets along with dogs and cats. He is a bit shy with strangers for the first few minutes but quickly warms up and wants to snuggle with you and give you kisses.

Jamey is a Papillon mix, and has many of the physical and personality traits of a Pap, with a mystery breed also in his make-up. He is a small boyonly 6 lbs. with a fine bone structure. He has a sweet, patient, mellow disposition, especially for such a young dog.

In his previous home, a toddler stepped on Jamey's leg, shattering it in two places. When the family found out how much the surgery to repair his leg would be, they dumped him at the pound. We rescued him, had the surgery done, and Jamey had to be confined to a crate while the leg healed. Despite an ordeal that would try the best of us, Jamey has come out of his recuperation a happy, carefree pup.

Now he is running and playing and being all the puppy he can be. He thrives in his foster home, playing with other dogs, plays happily with toys, loves chewies, running in the yard, and, cuddling on the couch. After more than 8 weeks of confinement, Jamey is being resocialized into the world! He is going to parks, to urban areas, to the beach and is getting used to traffic noise and other sounds of modern life. He walks very nicely on a leash.

Jamey potties outside and currently has only occasional mistakes indoors. He is mostly housebroken and will use potty pads. Jamey needs a home with an adult, or adults, who can walk him regularly, toss toys for him to fetch, and curl up with him on the couch. It would be good if he had a small dog to play with, in the home or in the neighborhood. He has too much energy, stored up from those long weeks of confinement, to be a good apartment or condo dog and we would like to place him in a home with a securely fenced yard .

Please note: because Jamey is fine-boned and small, HE WILL NOT BE PLACED IN A HOME WITH CHILDREN OF ANY AGE OR ANY LARGE DOGS. He will only be adopted to a home in Southern CA where he will be an indoor dog and have human company most of every day. Adopters must submit an adoption application and agree to a home visit. Jamey's adoption fee is $250.
