My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

“YOSHI”
Goffin Cockatoo
Fostered by Michele R. of Valrico, FL

Yoshi is a goffin cockatoo with a hatch date in 1998, He (?)is a very sweet, but timid bird. He wants so badly to cuddle with you, but he needs a little time and patience to trust you. He steps up easily, but does not like to sit on a playstand, he would much prefer sitting on a piece of furniture or a table when out of his cage, especially if it is near you. I was told that he prefers men, but it did not take him long to trust me and want scritches from me. Yoshi is a little bit of a plucker when he feels stressed, so the vet has advised that we leave the cone on since he has just come into rescue. She wants me to first get him onto a better diet and then when he gets used to being in my home, then we will take the cone off and see how he does. He does watch the other animals with caution and although he does not get very upset they are around, I feel it does make him a little nervous, but from my experience, this does lessen with time when the bird gets more comfortable. He has the same reaction to children, but will step up for my older girls (ages 10 & 9). He never makes a move to bite. Yoshi loves to rip up paper and has a few toys that he is very attached to. His cage also has a nice play top and is a really good size for him and he is very comfortable in it, so it would be best to adopt him with his cage. I really feel that with time and a gentle hand, Yoshi will come out of his shell and make a wonderful companion as he does have a gentle and loving nature!

Adoption Fee $350 or $550 With Cage
