My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello!!

I am the quill dog that was rescued from the dump and I have the most amazing story to tell! I am maybe 3-4 years old and have had an impossiby hard life until now. For the past year I have been living in the dump but I evaded capture because I was terrified of humans - I was simply in survival mode. About two months ago I was noticed again in the dump while Mimi and her pups were being rescued. However, once again I stayed far away and even left the dump when these nice people came to rescue these other dogs.

About two weeks ago, my gaurdian angel came looking under the shack in the dump trying to locate a blonde fluffy puppy with an old broken femur. She was horrified to see me under the shack with hundreds of quills in my face. I was not too see happy to see her because I thought it was another mean human being and besides, I felt crappy. However, she started to bring meat chunks out to my girlfriend (Danni) and me and I watched very carefully how my girlfriend would take the meat chunks from her hand. I wanted some too! I started crawling to her and also taking the meat chunks very greedily but gently! My head was very very swollen with the all the quills as they had already been in for a bit. I was really not doing well but I was not ready to trust this woman yet. So she started bringing me antibiotics and anti-inflammatory and feeding me these in the meat chunks. I started feeling better in just two days! She thought I was sort of funny though becase I would spit the pill out but eat the meat!

Over a period of week my girlfriend and I would hide in the long grasses in the dump and this kind woman would come looking for us in the dump. But we had to make sure it was her! So we would make her wait and keep calling out to us. Just as we were about to disapoint her we would make our way out to her, when we were absolutely sure it was her.

On the day of our rescue (July 3), she once again came out to visit us. We made her wait again and almost dispointed her again. But at the last mintue I came running out to her and bear hugged her! My girlfriend is a little shyer (or maybe a little more ladylike!) so she came up more quietly. Our guardian angel had to climb over a mountain of garbage at the entrance of the dump and she was quite concerned about how to get us in her car. Our gaurdian angel climbed back over the mountain and called us to her and her car. She opened her car door and I knew immediately what she was asking of me - I'm smart too along with good looks! With a couple of "hups" and tapping of the car seat, I jumped in and I was so excited to be in the car! My girlfriend jumped in too and we on the best car ride of our lives!

We got driven in straight to the vet and I kept giving this kind human being kisses on her face and scratching her up with all my quills!

I got all my quills pulled out by my vet. I have to tell you that I think my vet thinks my gaurdian angel is a little "insane". She told my vet that she was scared of me! He even gave her oral sedatives so that I could be asleep when I was brought in but I was such a brave boy that I did not need any of it! He couldn't believe any of this or my whole story because I am the friendliest dog ever! I even gave my vet a bear hug too and he wondered how my quills didn't hurt me more than I was showing!

While I was asleep and having my quills pulled I kept wagging my tail! I also had a quill removed from deep in my lower eyelid. If this had not been removed it could have caused me to go blind. It was also found out that I have an old injured right wrist that causes me to limp a little -my vets think I was probably hit by a car at some point in my adventures. With some rest my limp may minimize itself.

So here I am, in love with life again, and for the first time having people love me too. I am looking for the easy life now! At just 3-4 years old I am an "ancient" reserve dog as the average life of a reserve dog is only 1-2 years old.

I am good with other dogs, LOVE people, love going for walks, and LOVE belly rubs. I still have to be tested around cats as I haven't been around any yet.

I am probabaly some type of pitbull or bulldog cross. Maybe with some shep or husky in me. I have the most beautiful colors in my fur. I have a big head on a small body but my heart is even bigger with love!

If you are looking for a special dog with a special story that will love you to pieces for giving him that second chance please consider me!
