Rocky's Story...
Hi Everyone, I am Rocky! I am a mellow guy who likes to be petted and hang out with my family. I am excellent with other dogs and love people. My foster mom is amazed at my good manners since I lived my life on the end of a rope. Yes, Fences For Fido found me and rescued me! I am just amazed at the big world! I am 55 pounds and probably around 7 years old. I will need someone special since I am a bit hard of hearing. I can hear a little but not much. I have learned to get along without hearing so most people do not know. I am house trained, love to be brushed, crate trained, I am learning hand signals so now I can sit! I think I would do best in a home with another dog. I like company (maybe cause’ I can’t hear so well) and sometimes bark when I am alone, but just for a bit, then I fall asleep. My foster mom calls me easy going and sweet.
I am not currently here at Family Dogs, instead I am resting comfortably in a wonderful foster home , so if you are interested in meeting me please contact my foster mom at cayoshioka@aol.com.

7 years old-55lbs. My adoption fee is $100 and includes; microchip, neuter, reduced cost training class, 1 month pet health insurance, free veterinary exam, leash/collar, toy & treat packet and food sample.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rocky, a Portland Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Portland, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
