My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

12/23/10 - I'VE BEEN ADOPTED

Adoption Fee: $300

Fostered in Texas

Age: 6 years

Weight: 4.7 lbs.

ADOPTION APPLICATION REQUIRED.
Visit www.YorkieHavenRescue.com to apply.

11/30/10 - Heidi had the growth removed and it was found to be melanoma. It was completely removed and the pathology report said that it has a relatively low metastatic potential. Her sutures will be removed next week and then she will resume physical therapy.

11/11/10 - Poor Heidi...seems she cannot catch a break. She had her sutures removed about a week ago and was seen by the physical therapist who prescribed a home program for her and she was to start underwater therapy tomorrow. The therapy is postponed because today we found a growth on her chest just under her left front leg. She was seen by the vet and it is felt that she has either melanoma or melanocytoma. She is scheduled for surgical removal of the growth next Thursday, November 18th. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

10/20/10 - Heidi had her surgery today and all five pins were removed from her right hind leg. All of the previous surgery that was done on that knee has healed very well! The one pin had migrated to her muscle, so removal was a bit more tedious. She is home and being kept comfortable on pain medication.

10/19/10 - Heidi's back has definitely improved; but she went back to the orthopedic surgeon today for an exam because she is just not using her leg as much as she should be at this point. Xrays show that some of the pins in her leg have moved and they feel that she is experiencing some discomfort from that. She is scheduled to go back tomorrow to have the pins removed. Then, in two weeks, she will be evaluated by the physical therapist.

10/11/10 - PLEASE KEEP HEIDI IN YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS..she suddenly was unable to bear weight on both hind legs this afternoon. She was seen by the vet who feels that she has a slipped disc. She was able to stand a bit after being there, so she was given medications and sent home; but we were told that if she gets worse, to contact them right away for a neurology referral. Tonight she is having problems again, so first thing in the morning if she is still having problems, she will be seen by a neurologist.

Heidi's surgery cost: $2,800 Any help to pay her bill is greatly appreciated!

9/9/10 - Heidi was seen by the surgeon yesterday and xrays were taken. Her knee has healed nicely and she is ready to move on to her furever home. Heidi would do best as an only child. She could live with another, but she does not socialize with other pups. She loves to be held and travels well.

8/16/10 - Heidi is doing well. She has an appt with the surgeon on Sept 7 for xrays on her knee.

7/14/10 - Heidi came to us from a shelter after no one claimed her. She was found as a stray. She is presently in pain and unable to use her right rear leg. She was seen by the orthopedic surgeon today and her case is complicated. There was obvious trauma to her knee at some point with ligament damage and she has arthritis in the knee. The knee cap is difficult to see on xray. She will either be stabilized with surgery or a fusion may need to be done. She really does need something to ease her pain as the medicine is not helping her.

We have had many pups with various surgeries and treatments lately. Anything you can do to help us raise funds for Heidi's surgery will be very appreciated. And, please remember her in your prayers.
