My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Notes: 02-22-06 "Baby" is approx 8 years old. She is about 13# and only wants a quiet home to be loved and to love you in her own quiet way.

Baby was retired from a commercial breeding program Oct. 2005. She had been spending her time in another rescue learning what life outside is all about. This is a liittle lady who needs to learn how to be loved and how to love. Imagine this sweet dog who has never had a lap to sit on or a kind hand to carress her little head. We will be working on helping her learn what life outside a cage is like.

Baby has already been vaccinated including Rabies, a dental, spayed & microchipped. She will need to visit our rescue vet.

02-23- Baby visited Doc for a check-up. She weighed in at 15.2 lbs., definitely overweight. Doc suggested less feed.

03-12- JoAnne has advised us that Baby is starting to show a waistline. Diet is paying off! Yeah!

03-19- JoAnne has advised us that Baby is making progress, coming to her, putting her paws up, yet still fearful of the approach. Baby will need someone with time & patience & a lot of both. Baby does use the potty pads so won't need to go outside during cold & rainy weather. Yeah!!

03-21- We took Baby to Doc to get her nails done, a re-check of her weight. Doc suggested a baby aspirin once a day for the arthritis & suggested she get a bit more weight off. Baby weighed in at 13.4 lbs., no limping today, yet has mornings when she limps a bit. It could be a bit of arthritis.

03-25-06 Baby is back on-site at the sanctuary.

04-17- Baby is doing very well, is on a weight loss feed plus getting exercise playing in the small dog area with the other fur-kids. She gets along fine with all the others, including the resident cat. She is happy to bark when visitors come. What a fine little watch dog she makes! Not a mean bone in her body but it is such fun to sound the alarm when there is company!. She really is a delight.

09-23- Baby will be the one if you are willing to accept life as she offers it. She is content in her own little world, doesn't demand attention. She is very low maintenance, healthy, happy. She asks so little, just a bowl of food, fresh water, then leave her be to amuse herself in her own way. Maybe you are the kind of person who does not want a pet that is constantly at you for attention, maybe you would like a companion that is there for a pat or kind word but does not need to be clinging to you at all times. Someone who would take pleasure in this seeing this little lady delight in her world. A world without constant puppy production, a world without cages and affection. Watch her enjoy a world WITH the freedom to play, the freedom to nap on soft pillows, the freedom to enjoy a meal of good quality food. And the freedom to be someone's forever fur child. If you think our Baby Cakes might be the one for you please contact us and we will tell you all about her. She is a very precious little girl and we are eager for her to find that forever home.

10-01 Baby has been getting a lot of exercise during the day, playing with the other fur-kids. She just seems to be the fur-kid that can look at food and gain weight if we do not diligently restrict her food intake. Ahh that does sound familiar to many us doesn't it. We are hoping for an adopter that also struggles with her/his weight issue. A kindred spirit!

Baby had to have one eye removed due to prior damage. She has not had vision in this eye so the removal has not affected her mobility. And it will not affect her ability to see you....in her forever home.

10-17 Baby has made it her personal mission to be the watchdog of the housepack when visitors come. She loves to bark at visitors, yet from a distance. "Give it a rest!" hold her & she knows her watchdog duty is over, visitors are OK. So cute!!

adoption fee for Baby Cakes is $150.00
