My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

4 year old Perry has a permanent smile, a quick understanding of people and adjusts relatively quickly to new surroundings. Within the last couple of days Perry has let me pet him, pick him up and hold him, and he now likes to snuggle under the covers on the couch. Not quite ready to have his head covered yet, he looks like a little papoose with just his snout and the top of his head showing – and his permanent smile. He is learning to like belly rubs and chest scratches, and comes to find me for some snuggles. He likes his kennel – where he used to like to share his space with Gabe, he has taken over his own kennel and spreads out to enjoy his own clean, soft space. He is doing very well on his potty training and will go to the door as his way of letting me know he would like to go out. If he tries to mark in the house and I say “no”, he goes to the door. Perry has figured out that the concrete is cooling so he has found a spot to lay in the sun, on the concrete! His back gets warm and his tummy stays cool!

He prances for his food, water and a position in the sun sometimes with wild abandon. He shows enthusiasm for new things…and prances towards me when called. And treats will cause the Perry dance! While loud noises and sudden movements startle him, every day Perry takes another step toward becoming the self-confident wonderful, loving spirit he was born to be.
