My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

For the first few years of her young life, poor little Skye’s world was filled with rain clouds. Through no fault of her own, she was bounced around like a ping pong ball until she finally arrived at her MWCR foster home. It is a mystery to us why this lovable collie was passed around, because we have found her to be perfect in almost every way.

Skye is a petite girl who is healthy, happy and well mannered. She is fully housetrained and her foster mom says she can be left alone for up to 8 or 9 hours with absolutely no misbehavior. She is crate trained and while she will go into her crate without complaint, she is clearly sad to be separated from her people. She tolerates grooming and is learning to walk on her leash without pulling. She loves to go for rides in the car and would happily sit in your lap during the ride if you allowed her. For safety reasons, we recommend having Skye ride in the back seat where she will politely watch the world go by, and occasionally give you a kiss on the back of the neck as a reward for good driving.

Skye loves everyone she meets and is always happy to greet new people and dogs. She is very gentle and courteous, never jumping up on her guests. Although there are no children at her foster home, Skye’s calm, gentle manner leads her foster mom to believe that she would be excellent with respectful children of any age. She also gets along well with the other dogs at her foster home and will play and rough house with them until they become too rough and then she tells them in no uncertain terms that ladies should be treated with respect. She likes the cats at her foster home and would be happy to play with them, but the snooty felines won’t cooperate.

Like most collies, Skye enjoys the sound of her own voice and will chime in with the other dogs when she hears noises from outside her house or beyond the fence. If the chatter gets excessive, however, a firm “that’s enough” from her foster mom will quiet her down nicely.

Skye is a very sweet little girl who enjoys sitting in her foster mom’s lap and soaking up the love. She is the perfect combination of fun-loving playfulness and laid back affection. Her forever home should, ideally, include another moderately playful dog and a fenced yard for her to explore. She would be good with gentle children and would have no problem fitting in with her owner’s work schedule as long as it didn’t involve excessively long hours. After several years of cloudy weather, Skye is ready for a lifetime of sunny days with a loving, forever family.
