My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET ROCKY:

Rocky is a beautiful red smooth just 5 year old 12 pound bundle of joy. He loves being held and loves to go on walks. He is quite protective of "his person" prefers a household of females. Tall adults with ball caps and glasses scare this darling little dog. He has gone through profession training with the "clicker" concept for behavior. He is loyal and would be happy the rest of his life to spend it with you. He loves just laying beside you while you use the computer or reading. His favorite treat is apple slice especially Fuji apples and bully sticks. He is crate trained, potty trained. He likes to play fetch. He loves his foster family, especially his doxie foster brothers and sisters and he trains all the new dogs that come to the Rescue. He has been such an amazing little guy and while we would love to keep him all to ourselves, it isn't fair to ROCKY who SO desires a forever family to love...and let's be honest, it wouldn't be fair for us to keep him away from you!!

NOTE FROM ODR, INC.: ROCKY had a rough start to his life and was tortured early on so he doesn't respond well to men, at least not initially, and definitely not men with baseball caps and / or sunglasses. This is why we have encouraged him to be adopted by a human mom.

OUR CRITERIA (aka the Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer no smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember these are rescues, many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give ROCKY a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
