Riley's Story...
Meet Riley, a black Lab who was born around February 11, 2005. Riley is a wonderful boy! He likes the water, enjoys fetching, going for walks, running alongside the bike, and car rides. He is house trained, crate trained, gets along well with other dogs, and enjoys cuddling up with his favorite people on the couch. He is working with his foster mom to learn new commands such as sit, wait, lie down and shake. When Riley came to us, he weighed 109 pounds. He is feeling so much better now that he has lost over 21 pounds with the help of thyroid medicine (.8 ml of Soloxine), exercise and controlled food portion sizes. Riley has been vet checked, neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and tested negative for heartworm. Call 507-451-4512 to meet Riley in his foster home. His adoption fee is $185. (JH)

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Riley, a Owatonna Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Owatonna, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Owatonna.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Owatonna already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Owatonna breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Owatonna paves the way for another one to be saved.
