My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

8-5-10 Drake is a VERY big boy who has all the potential in the world to be a fantastic dog. He's at least 120 lbs and on the lean side! He is a mastifff mix who was surrendered locally after a life with very few experiences that a dog should have, so he comes off to be a bit jumpy - new noises, new people, etc. He is not faring well in a shelter environment because new noises startle him and he has a BIG bark, so a family walking through the shelter thinking of adoption all of a sudden is faced with this big lug with a big voice.

Once he came out into the shelter yard to meet us, however, we allowed Drake to initiate the contact and he could not sniff us enough! Within a few minutes he was happily letting us love on him. He really enjoyed walking on the trails with us on a harness. He has done well with female dogs who are on the larger side and he met our submissive male and all he wanted to do was play. He was a little harder to control on leash then because he is just a LOT of dog. There was no aggression of any kind, and get this, Drake is FINE with cats ;0 ) It must be quite a sight!

Drake really needs a foster home out of the shelter environment as soon as we can get him one - and of course a forever home down the road. I would not place him with little kids as he could easily knock them over with one luck of his big slobbery tongue!

Drake is one gorgeous boy who needs a fresh start. Please contact us today to talk about him!
