My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

POSTED FOR SOUTHERN STATES MASTIFF RESCUE - TOBY IS IN BRADENTON, FL
UPDATED NEWS ON TOBY - - Hello everyone, it's me Toby and I have some updates for you. SSMR has been sending me for Acupuncture and Prolotherapy for my knees - its something new and all the rage for dogs like me and from what I hear, if all goes well, I will be as normal as I can be when the treatments are done. I'm done with treatment #3 and it is going fantastic!!! So please... I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP with donations for my treatment and finding my forever home!!!!!!

Hi! I'm Toby. I'm a 1 1/2 year old fawn male Mastiff boy. My foster mom named me after some guy when she heard a song on the radio because she says when I'm all better and looking like the majestic boy I should be, I can look at who left me in this condition and say "How do you like me now?" They kept calling me a "stray" and while I don't know what that is, I was fending for myself for awhile and was covered in itchy bugs. It's not fair because I really love everybody and just want them to love me back. It was so noisy in that place and I felt like something bad was going to happen and then there was this nice guy who came and got me out of there. It sure is nice being in the a/c, with a soft bed and good food. While I've never known any different and I've learned to live with it, my legs aren't quite right and when I'm walking my back leg twists kind of funny. We went to this doctor who took a bunch of pictures of my legs and I tried to hold really still. They told me for such a big boy, I sure was a lovebug! When we were done, my foster mom told me some type of surgeries on my knees might help me to run and play like other dogs without pain. But... we have to raise enough money to have it done... can you help?
FROM TOBY'S FOSTER MOM: Toby is one of the sweetest mastiffs I've ever fostered. He came in very thin and you could see all his ribs and his hip bones sticking up. He was full of fleas and hookworms along with all his other problems. He has now put on some weight. He loves everybody and did very well with everyone poking and prodding him at the vet's office. For only being here a week, he is already barking and guarding the house. He is house trained, and loves his squeaky toys and will greet you at the door with one. He knows some commands, and listens very well and just sticks to you like glue or is rolling on his back for you to rub his belly or laying his head in your lap. Toby is great with other dogs. Southern States Mastiff Rescue is looking at all treatment options for this wonderful, wonderful boy, but he really needs a family that will love him and help him recover.
