FOURTH PHOTO COURTESY OF LIBBY VOLGYES/THE PALM BEACH POST

Update: Byron has been diagnosed with a hernia and will have surgery on 11/09 – wish him luck!

UPDATED BIO 11/07/2010: Byron is a sweet 9 month old 7.3 lb morkie who is being fostered in Boynton Beach, FL along with his brother Bradley (who is 6 lbs). Byron is very affectionate, playful and has easily attached to his Foster Mom & Dad and his doggie brothers. Foster Mom says that he is exceptionally smart - one day he saw her go into a lower kitchen cabinet that has plastic food storage containers inside. It was very soon thereafter that Byron opened the cabinet and helped himself to the food containers - well! Later, Foster Mom looked out the patio door to see that her yard was full of these plastic lids from the cabinet he had opened - what a memory and what a little character! Byron loves to play "fetch"; and at times, Byron and his brother will be running with the same toy in both of their mouths. At night, Byron loves to burrow under the sheets and cuddle. He is a very high-energy little boy, who really loves his toys. He is also a very fast learner, great in the car and easy to walk - and he also loves - loves running. His house-training is going very well and should be continued in his new adoptive home - many mornings his belly-band is dry, which means he is getting the idea that he needs to go outside to potty.

NOTE: Initially, Byron’s foster parents felt that they he and his brother Bradley would do better if they were adopted into separate homes. However, after having more time to observe them, they now feel that since they are so bonded, it would be best if they are adopted together into their forever home.

Foster Parents also think Byron would be fine with children over the age of 10 – no toddlers/babies!

After having observed Byron & Bradley during their foster period, Foster Mom says that even though they obviously love one another, she feels that it would be better if they were adopted into separate homes, although they could be adopted together in the right home. PLEASE NOTE: Because of Byron's alpha personality, he needs to be the only dog in the home - it is best that he not be adopted into a home with children.

UPDATED BIO 09/22/2010: Byron is a sweet 8 month old 7.3 lb morkie who is being fostered in Boynton Beach, FL along with his brother Bradley (who is 6 lbs). Byron is a very curious and adventurous little boy; he loves to explore cupboards, closets, under beds, what is under mommy's dress, what is in shoes in the closet, and what is going on in the shower when someone is in there. He loves taking his toys outside and tossing them around so Foster Mom will join him in his game of fetch. He has never seen a lap that he didn't want to sit on. He is very affectionate and like most puppies, very active. He loves to be around people, although he is more assertive than his brother Bradley and demands a lot of personal attention. He does well on a leash, but needs a fenced-in yard to run -- he loves to run-run-run laps in the yard. Byron is almost fully housetrained; he has very few accidents.

After having observed Byron & Bradley over the past few weeks, Foster Mom says that even though they obviously love one another, she truly feels that it would be better if they were adopted into separate homes. PLEASE NOTE: Because of Byron's alpha personality, he needs to be the only dog in the home - it is best that he not be adopted into a home with children.

UPDATED BIO 09/06/2010: Byron is a sweet 8 month old 7.3 lb (corrected age and weight estimated by our rescue vet!!!) little boy who is being fostered in Boynton Beach, FL along with his brother Bradley (who is 6 lbs). Our vet thinks they are most likely Morkies (Maltese-Yorkie mixes). After being in their foster home for only 5 days, it is quite evident to their foster mom that Byron and Bradley are very bonded and need to be adopted together. They had a rough start to life and appear to "consult" each other before making a move. They sleep intertwined in each others' paws, and they interact well with both each other and the other furkids in the foster home.

They are having so much fun playing in their Foster Mommy's backyard. They were apprehensive about grass at first, and it is FM's thought that they lived most of their lives in a cage before finding their way to UYR. Everything is new, including puppy training. They are smart little guys and are learning where to potty. Byron and Bradley have had their initial vet visit and appear to be very healthy and very young (and almost identical except for slightly different haircuts and slightly smaller size of Bradley). They will be going in for their neuters this week. Please keep these special boys in your thoughts. They are so deserving of a wonderful, loving home where they will never have to worry about being homeless again.

(INITIAL BIO 09/01/2010: MEET BYRON! He is a handsome 1 y/o 7.8# adorable yorkie mix puppy; he is being fostered in Boynton Beach, along with his brother Bradley. Their story is very sad......and very cruel. Byron and Bradley were purposely abandoned deep in the forest where the houses are many miles apart. Thank Goodness a Good Samaritan saw them walking on the roadside and picked them up since the puppies were in an area with known coyotes. They appear to be siblings, and both seem to be happy little boys in spite of their unfortunate 'adventure'. At this time, Foster Mom is just getting to know them, and we don't know if they are bonded and need to be adopted together. Please check this website frequently as FM gets to known them better.
