My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Roux - female, vet checked, vaccinated to date inclu. Rabies, spayed, heartworm tested (-), dewormed, tx flea preventative, ~4yr, ~20-24lbs, Beagle mix.

Roux is an adorable Beagle something mix, we aren’t too sure what. She does not sound like a Beagle or Hound, she doesn’t howl. What ever her mix is she is just the sweetest most gentle thing she even smiles for the camera! Roux has been in foster care for a few weeks now and her foster family seems to have figured her out and found a routine that works best for her and the household. Roux originally seemed to have trouble figuring out where she fit in with the household and was bullying the other dog and cat in the home – trying to find who she was above or not above in the family. She was also nervous and snappy when meeting some strange dogs that approached her. Roux’s foster family has been working hard with Roux to make her feel more comfortable and secure with a routine. She now has her own crate which she takes to whenever she needs a rest – she loves her crate and sleeps in it when left alone. She goes for a brisk walk (about 30min) or short jog in the morning and a longer one after work. Roux has been a lot better at meeting new dogs in the street – she tends to ignore them and just pass them by. She still does not fancy the dog parks, the strange dogs bombarding her put her on edge. She gets along best with dogs her own size and is sometimes intimidated with larger dogs, she is quite vocal in telling large dogs to stay away. Roux has not been around kids other then on her walks so we’d prefer a home with no small kids under age 10yrs. Roux would fine in a home with other pets or on her own. Roux’s foster family has really helped her come along and will be sad to see her go, they find her to be loving, obedient and fitting in well. They’ve noted that the main training tool they use to help Roux feel more stable is a crate, without her crate Roux seemed lost. Roux is probably better suited to a calmer more mature home. She needs a house with a fenced yard.
