Linda's Salty Lady's Story...
Linda's Salty Lady was relinquished to the rescue by a farrier we know who was alerted that she was being sent to slaughter. Lady is a 5 year old registered Thoroughbred mare. She was raced, but came in dead last for every race she ran. The previous owners then tried to breed her, and when she wouldn't take, they were sending her to the kill buyer. Our farrier friend alerted us and we promptly made arrangements to bring her in. Lady has a nasty little injury to her front pastern area, she scraped her leg while loading on the trailer. This should heal up just fine. Right now Lady is just settling in, and will be introduced to the herd after her quarantine period is over. Welcome Lady! http://www.pedigreequery.com/lindas+salty+lady

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Linda's Salty Lady, a Old Fort Thoroughbred was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Thoroughbred for sale in Old Fort, or seeking a Thoroughbred from a breeder in Old Fort.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Old Fort already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Old Fort breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Thoroughbred breeders who help with Thoroughbred rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Old Fort paves the way for another one to be saved.
