My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jerry - 1 year old male AmStaff mix. The main thing you can say about this handsome youngster is that he is AFFECTIONATE: Jerry is friendly with absolutely everyone he meets, loves being petted, gives kissies freely and will crowd his body into any welcoming lap. He's crate-trained and housebroken, good with basic obedience, and started on retrieving. Jerry would be make a great buddy for an active person - he's gone on many hikes and is even better off-leash than on, plus he's an experienced biking partner as well. He'd also be an ideal companion for someone who's on the road a lot - he's a perfect passenger, and is more reliable (and way more loving!) protection for car and driver than any mechanical security device. Jerry plays endlessly with his younger foster siblings, including smaller dogs and young puppies, and he's submissive with the adults, including a smaller female. But like many big male adolescents he enjoys rough play, and when an unfamiliar dog becomes aggressive in the course of such play Jerry does not always back off, so he needs to be monitored carefully at dog park. Although Jerry is too tall and lean to be a purebred Staffie he looks enough like one to suffer from the widespread prejudice against the bully breeds, so his adopters must be prepared to defend this sweet, loving boy from people who are automatically biased against him. Because this often includes landlords, he is available to homeowners only. Jerry weighs about 60 pounds now and we expect he'll be approximately 65 as an adult.
