Kylie's Info...

Breed: Fox Terrier (Smooth)/Rat Terrier Mix Color: White - With Black Age: Adult
Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less Sex: Female

I am already spayed, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, and good with dogs.

Kylie's Story...
SEE UPDATE BELOW. Kylie isn't even one year old yet but her beautiful little face is already scarred. She had a terrible yeast infection that was treated with antibiotics - that's not how you treat a yeast infection. She may never have full coat covering her face but she's lovely, even without it. Her spirit is not daunted by her scars. She's sweet and playful. She was born in January 2010 and weighs 6 pounds. Kylie will be a wonderful companion to some lucky person or family. She is doing very well with her house training and gets along fine with the other dogs in her foster home.

Kylie is spayed, up to date on all shots, on heartworm preventive, well wormed and microchipped. Even with all of this done, her adoption fee is only $200. UPDATE: Kylie has been in rescue for over one year. She will be two in January 2012. We have done steroids, antibiotics, antifungals, a biopsy and a dermatology consult. My vet is chalking her face skin issues to Arkansas Swamp Funk. We have found that if we give her 1/2 tablet of ketoconazole a day, which she takes like a champ, we can at least keep it in control. She's actually starting to grow an eyebrow for the first time in her young life! This skin thing does not seem to bother Kylie at all. She doesn't itch or act uncomforatble in any way. We get the ketoconazole, 100 tablets for $25. That's 200 days worth. Pretty cheap. This girl may not ever win a beautiful face contest but she's happy and she loves, loves, loves her toys. She's a good girl well deserving of a wonderful home.

Rescue Group Info...

About Our Rescue Group...
In August, 2006, we branched off from a long association with Chihuahua Rescue and Transport in order to have a more local focus. You may have noticed that we have also branched off from rescuing only chihuahuas. As we were doing shelter pulls, it became harder and harder to pull chihuahuas for rescue and leave behind other small breed dogs that we knew were highly adoptable. So we started taking them also. Chihuahuas are first in our hearts but we have been very successful in finding wonderful homes for doxies, miniature pinschers and various terriers. If we have the means, the desire and the drive to rescue them as well, how could we not? I guess we should start calling ourselves River City Canine Rescue.

River City Chihuahua Rescue is a non-profit organization in the state of Missouri with 501(c)3 status granted by the IRS. We have no paid employees. We are a local, internet-based organization dedicated to the rescue, medical care and adoption of stray and homeless small breed dogs in need. We help control the growing overpopulation by spaying and neutering all dogs in our care. We provide all necessary veterinary treatment and place them in foster homes until they are adopted into forever homes. Whenever possible, RCCR also raises public awareness regarding the abuse and neglect of small breed dogs as well as overpopulation caused by not spaying and neutering.

Come Meet Our Pets...

UPDATE:

RCCR is taking a little break - probably for the rest of the year because our beloved director (that's me) will be leaving Missouri for work. There will probably still be some dogs on our site and rest assured, if they are there, they are available and arrangements can be made for you to meet any of them. Just know that River City Rescue isn't going away, we're just taking a short hiatus. We'll be back and we can't wait for that day to come. Remember that we have a Facebook group page and we love, love, love updates! Thanks to the internet, we can all stay in touch so easily. Thank you for supporting our mission. See you in 2014!
