Buddy's Story...
Buddy is a charming dog. He greets strangers warmly with a lick on the hand. He greets his "family" even more warmly with lots of affection, licking and nuzzling. His breath is remarkably fresh and non offensive. He enjoys playing. He likes sticks, balls, rags etc. He could be taught to fetch. He loves to explore and on walks he loves to sniff and investigate his environment. He does not do any territorial marking. He only pees when necessary and seldom lifts his leg except to avoid tall grass or ivy tickling his underside. Buddy is adjusting nicely to his crate training. He sleeps in his crate without any problems. He has not soiled his crate. If he is in his crate and you are in the same area he is in he may whimper if he cannot see you. Buddy sits on command and is learning stay. He will appreciate all the affection you want to give him. He is still a bit mouthy but he is very gentle about it and is learning not to when told not to do it. We have had him off leash in the yard and though he explores and plays some he also wants very much to be with his "family." He enjoys playing with other friendly dogs. He is wary of some dogs that appear more aggressive. He has indicated some protectiveness of his "family". He tends to bark back when he hears another dog barking. Buddy has seen cats on our walks and has approached them cautiously but did not attempt to chase them or behave aggressively, rather he seemed curious. He likes to watch but not chase the ducks and geese at the aquatic park. He likes to sit on your lap if you allow it and loves tummy rubs. Buddy is a great sized dog and a real sweetheart overall.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Buddy, a Berkeley Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd Dog for sale in Berkeley, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Berkeley.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Berkeley already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Berkeley breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Berkeley paves the way for another one to be saved.
