Hop-a-long is a young, puppy-ish Rattie who is trying to recover from a severely broken leg. The cause of his injury is unknown, and he has already had surgery that was intended to save the leg. On Labor Day it will be 3 months since that surgery. As of now there has been almost no bone growth, and Hoppy is in danger of losing his left hind leg. Hop-a-long is about 1 to 2 years old, weighs about 9 pounds, and loves all the people and animals he meets. He wants to play constantly, but is happy sitting in a lap trying to kiss... or hanging out with the other dogs. Hoppy has amazing spirit and attitude, considering all he's been through. He does like to chew on things (sort of like teething), which makes us think he may be younger then described. Hoppy has been mostly confined to his crate (with leashed walks to potty) to give his leg a chance to heal. He is some-what house trained, and would be a joy to any household with children or other animals.
By the end of August we should know whether Hop-a-long's leg can be saved (he currently lifts it when he walks, and does quite well without it). To see more pictures of Hop-a-long please
