My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Missy Foster is a 10 year old blue gray female rattie who weighs 10 pounds and has been in foster care since the day after Christmas, 2009. She is still working with her veterinarian to get rid of a skin disorder which left her with raw, red, hairless spots and 4 gnawed paws. Missy is no longer scratching and her hair is growing back slowly. Her foster home has 2 other small adopted ratties and 1 elderly older brother Terrier who sleeps most of the time. She has befriended her arch-rival sister Rosie, and it is sweet to see. Missy was found in an abandoned home so we have no history on how long she had to live without food. Eating for her is very fast. Sometimes she eats her food so rapidly she eats it again very quickly. We just understand because of her experiences that she has this issue and feed her alone so there is no competitive eating. Missy also has a lot to talk about - especially when she hears a new noise, is sent outside in the yard, or left alone. She does not like to take walks on the leash at all, and prefers to stay indoors. We think she was trained to do her duty inside as well and will go on a towel in a closet or bathroom. Sometimes she leaves us a "present" just to let us know she needs more attention. We are continuing to work with her on her good manners. At the top of the list in describing this sweet girl are her brains, loyalty, and playfulness. She loves to prance around the room with a toy or bone in her mouth, and will do it for a long time. Missy Foster will sleep in the bed, snuggling with her fostermom all night, and follow her around all day. She is alert and active. Her fostermom's grandkids are around alot and she does OK with that. She is a beautiful, sweet, adorable girl when she is happy. She would make a great constant companion for an elderly person who can hande her daily challenges.
