Mia's Story...
Meet an amazing little Mia! Mia was found hiding behind a bush after a week of heavy rains and winds. She was undernourished and dehydrated. She could not see, because her eyes were shut due to severe conjunctivitis; could not breathe properly because of the cold; could not walk, because she was so weak. We brought her home and took her to the vet. The vet put her on a heating pad, gave her IV for hydration and told us that the next 48 hours would be critical.
We were with Mia most of the time during the first couple of days giving her cold and eye medicine, hand-feeding her and trying to warm her up.
After two days of TLC she gained 6 ounces and started to crawl, but her eyes were still shut. The doctor said that her left eye was ulcerated and she might stay blind. He also prescribed another ointment to give her twice a day in addition to her other medications.
After about 8 days of meds, quite a few Royal Canine special diet food cans Mia not only opened her eyes, but turned into a beautiful and playful furry ball. She can play with her toys for hours and loves attention. She is litter box trained and never had accidents in 3 weeks that we had her. She is super friendly and loves to be held or petted.
