My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Katie is a girl who knows what she likes – and what she doesn’t. What she does like are certain dogs. What she doesn’t like are other dogs. Unfortunately, her foster mom hasn’t been able to find out why Katie takes to some dogs but not to others, and Katie isn’t saying. This means that she will probably need to meet the resident dog at her prospective, forever home before making a commitment. She would definitely prefer to share her home with only one other canine, since having numerous dogs around seems to stress her.

Katie is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves people and is particularly fond of children of all ages. She is initially a bit cautious with strangers, but once she knows they are okay, she is happy to give them kisses. She is tolerant of cats and does not attempt to chase them. She needs to be introduced slowly to other dogs, and barking dogs frighten her and will send her into a barking frenzy. For this reason, her ideal home would include one, quiet, laid back dog and a relatively secluded setting.

Katie is a very smart girl who is fully housetrained and knows a variety of words and commands, including: sit, stay, come, go get, off, no, up, ride, walk, quiet, treat, down and roll over. She still needs work on the “quiet” command when she is reacting to another dog. Katie loves car rides and is well behaved in the car. She is very tolerant of grooming, even allowing her foster mom to brush her teeth. She walks well on her leash, but needs a firm hand if she encounters a barking dog while on her walk. She has free range of her foster home when her foster family is out and has had no problems.

Katie is a lovely collie with a unique combination of merle and sable markings. Her eyes are also special: one brown and one blue. She is a charming little sweetheart who loves to share her stuffed toys with her foster mom.

Katie is looking to share her forever home with no more than one, compatible canine. In the right circumstances she could be an “only” dog, but she really does enjoy the companionship of another dog, as long as it has received the Katie stamp of approval. She needs a fenced yard where she can play without encountering unknown dogs, and she would do best in a quiet neighborhood or semi rural area. Katie is a beautiful, playful, loving girl who is ready to share that love with an active, forever family. She is a bit picky about the other dogs in her life, but is more than willing to share her sweet nature and loving ways with humans of all ages
